| Palladium Hallmarking
Palladium is part of the platinum group of metals. It is a bright and naturally white metal that does not require rhodium plating. It looks and wears like platinum but is much lighter and less expensive than platinum. The British Assay Office now recognises palladium as part of the Fine Jewellery market and began to hallmark new pieces on a voluntary basis this summer. With effect from 1st January 2010 it will become compulsory to hallmark palladium. The Ringmaker has been making palladium jewellery for many years, therefore we are delighted by the added reassurance the new legislation provides for our customers. Unfortunately, ant pieces made before 2009 cannot be retrospectively hallmarked under current legislation. May we take this opportunity to invite all our customers who have had palladium jewellery made by The Ringmaker in 2009 to now return their pieces for hallmarking if it has not already been done. |
